STEPHENVILLE – The Lone Star Conference schedule is officially underway for volleyball, and St. Edward's opened league action with a four-set loss to defending champion, No. 11 Tarleton State. The Texans claimed the match by scores of 25-16, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-18.
The Hilltoppers were held to just a .200 attack percentage while Tarleton hit over .500 to win 25-16 in the first set.Â
St. Edward's narrowly dropped the second set 25-22 before out-hitting the Texans 16-12 in the third set, winning 25-23. The third-set victory was fueled by a 4-0 start to the panel.

The Hilltoppers struggled to find a rhythm in set four and were ultimately defeated 25-18.Â
KATARINA MENDEZ led with 11 kills on the evening while hitting .524.
ALEXA MCANDREW and
MELISSA MCNEIL added nine kills each.
MADISON HEALD posted 22 assists while Nicole Grant led with 20 digs.Â
SEU falls to 5-4 on the season and 1-0 in LSC play. The squad returns to action on Saturday, facing Dallas Baptist at 1 p.m. in Dallas.
