AUSTIN – St. Edward's men's soccer scored two goals in the first half and held off Dallas Baptist Thursday afternoon to open Lone Star Conference action with a 2-1 win at Lewis-Chen Family Field.
SEU took control of the match in the 22
nd minute as
CHEN ADJEI centered the ball from right of goal and
MICHALIS CLARK sent it home with a low, hard shot to put the Hilltoppers up 1-0. Just before halftime, St. Edward's got a little breathing room as they took advantage of a corner opportunity.
KIERAN FURSE's low corner kick drove through the defense and into the box, finding
JASON LYONS who buried it in the back of the net.
With a 2-0 deficit DBU had to work quick and did just that as the second half got underway. Ethan Martinez perfectly placed a free kick around the SEU wall and into goal in the 57

St. Edward's defensive line took over from there, expertly controlling DBU the rest of the way.
