Box Score SAN ANGELO – ASHTON SPEARS' layup with ten seconds remaining gave St. Edward's a one-point lead that proved to be the difference maker as the Hilltoppers survived with a 78-77 win at Angelo State.

With the win the Hilltoppers improve to 17-1 on the season and 11-1 on Lone Star Conference play.

SEU started the game incredibly well and opened up a 15-point lead, 25-10, just over seven minutes into the frame. ASU began to chip away at the lead and by halftime they were able to cut it to three, 45-42.

With renewed vigor as the second half got underway the Rams began to charge the Hilltoppers and eventually took the lead 61-58 with just over ten minutes to play. The game was a nail-biter the rest of the way as SEU got big baskets from
JAKE KRAFKA and Spears down the stretch to secure the win.

Spears led with 35 points on 14-28 shooting with seven rebounds and two steals as SEU shot 43.3% from the floor and 38.7% from three-point range. SEU out-rebounded the Rams 35-30 and was led by
DORIAN LOPEZ with nine rebounds while adding 22 points.

St. Edward's remains on the road to face Lubbock Christian on Saturday at 3 pm.
