LSC cancels all athletics activity for remainder of spring season

RICHARDSON – The Lone Star Conference Council of Presidents announced Sunday that all athletics activity has been canceled for the remainder of the spring season. This includes all practices and games. The announcement affects eight St. Edward's varsity sports, including baseball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track & field.

NCAA President Mark Emmert announced last Thursday that all remaining winter and spring championships were canceled.

Last Friday, the NCAA Division II Administrative Council announced that all student-athletes competing in spring sports will be granted an additional season of eligibility. Additionally, a recruiting dead-period has been put in place until, at least, April 15 for all on- and off-campus recruiting activities.

STATEMENT
Debbie Taylor, St. Edward's Associate Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics: "This is an extremely difficult time for all of our student-athletes, coaches and staff. While each of them are disappointed about how the spring season has ended, they understand the magnitude of this situation. I have relayed to them all that our top priority is their health and well-being. We will continue to provide support to our student-athletes, coaches and staff in any way possible through this unpredictable time."
