AUSTIN – St. Edward's women's soccer was held scoreless at home in a 2-0 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday afternoon.
The Lions kicked off, but it was St. Edward's that applied the pressure early on. Despite strong looks, it was Texas A&M-Commerce that struck first with a goal in the 30
th minute.
SEU was unable to get the equalizer as the match rolled into halftime, trailing 1-0.
As the second half got underway, St. Edward's had a few good opportunities in the form of corner kicks, but couldn't capitalize. The Lions extended their lead in the 65
th minute and were able to hold the Hilltoppers out of the box to hand SEU the loss.
SEU was outshot 12-5 in the loss, but led 7-4 in corners.
ALYSSA GARCIA led offensively with two shots, both on frame.
ABBY CARLSON posted three saves in the loss.
St. Edward's falls to 7-5-2 on the season and 5-3-1 on the year. They return to action on Wednesday, hosting UT Tyler at 4 pm at Lewis-Chen Family Field.
