Box Score FORT SMITH, Ark. – St. Edward's volleyball came out strong but were eventually surpassed by UAFS, falling 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
SEU was steady and strong in the first set, closing the frame on a 5-1 run to win 25-18. The Hilltoppers hit an astounding .406 in the set while holding the Lions to .176.
Roles reversed in the second set as UAFS surged ahead and closed the frame on a 4-0 run to hand SEU their first set loss, 25-22.
Sets three and four followed suit as the Hilltoppers were unable to string together enough runs to turn the tide in their direction, falling 25-19, 25-20.
The Hilltoppers were held to .176 attack percentage for the match despite the hot start in set one.
KAITLYN KRAFKA led the way with 13 kills while
CAROLINE SWAN added 12 with a .212 attack percentage.
EMILY TRAN posted 38 assists while
SARAH KONOVODOFF headed up the defense with 18 digs.
St. Edward's falls to 9-9 on the season and 4-7 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to the Hilltop to host Cameron on Friday at 6 pm.
