Hilltoppers' impressive run ends in LSC Championship

Box Score SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – After posting three upsets in the postseason to earn a spot in the Lone Star Conference Championship, the St. Edward's volleyball team had their season ended with a 3-0 loss to West Texas A&M.
 
The opening set was tight and both teams struggled to gain control. WT went on a run midway through the frame and led 10-5 early. The slight advantage was enough to hold off St. Edward's as the Hilltoppers were held at arm's length in the first set. The Buffs were able to secure the set one win, 25-16.
 
Set two was tight early, but WT was able to get some space and went up by 16-9 midway through the frame. West Texas A&M continued to press on and expanded their lead all the way to the end, winning set two 25-14 to put SEU in a 2-0 hole.
 
St. Edward's refused to go quietly and were ready for a comeback as set three got underway. SEU had a slight two-point advantage early, 5-3. The Hilltoppers hung close but were unable to take the lead as WT closed out the set 25-21.
 
CAROLINE SWAN led with nine kills as the Hilltoppers were held to .042 attack percentage for the match while WT hit .208. KAITLYN KRAFKA added six kills with Jillenne Connell, MAYA SMALLS and HALLE SANDERS adding five kills each.
 
Defensively, SARAH KONOVODOFF led with 19 digs with Krafka adding 13. MAYA SMALLS added three blocks.
 
St. Edward's ends the year at 16-12 overall.
