Hilltoppers close weekend strong with 3-1 win over TAMIU

Box Score LAREDO, Texas – St. Edward's volleyball used early set runs to win 3-1 at Texas A&M International to close their final regular season road trip of the year.
 
After a measured start, SEU rattled off a 12-2 run and never looked back to dominate set one 25-12. The Hilltoppers hit .364 in the set while holding TAMIU to .088 in addition to posting five aces.
 
SEU's defense was even stronger in the second set, keeping the Dust Devils to a .000 attack percentage. The Hilltoppers led big early and never allowed Texas A&M International back in the match, closing out the set 25-15.
 
TAMIU refused to go quietly into the night and were step-by-step with the Hilltoppers in the third set. The teams traded points throughout before the Dust Devils went up by three, 16-13. St. Edward's wasn't able to make up the ground and dropped set three 25-21.
 
SEU returned to form in the fourth set, jumping out to an early lead before closing the set 25-21.
 
St. Edward's hit .256 in the match and was led by CAROLINE SWAN who posted 16 kills in addition to a team-high four aces. KAITLYN KRAFKA and HALLE SANDERS added 12 kills each while SARAH KONOVODOFF led the defense with 19 digs.
 
The Hilltoppers improve to 13-9 on the year and 8-7 in Lone Star Conference play. They return home to take on Lubbock Christian on Friday at 6 pm.
