FORT SMITH, Ark. – St. Edward's volleyball was unable to get their offense rolling and were knocked out of the Lone Star Conference Championship Tuesday with a 3-0 loss to UT Permian Basin.
SEU started well, earning the first three points of the match, but UTPB made a run midway through the opening set, outscoring SEU 7-2 to lead by three 10-7. The slight advantage was enough to hand the Hilltoppers a loss in set one 25-16.
St. Edward's led 16-14 at the halfway point of the second set, but the Falcons got on a roll again, closing the set on an 11-3 run to win 25-19.
With all the momentum, UTPB led early in the final set. The Hilltoppers made a run late in the set but fell short, dropping the final set 25-23.
MELISSA MCNEIL and
MADDIE MIKSCH led with nine kills each while Nicole Grant posted a team high 16 digs.
The Hilltoppers end their season at 6-7 overall, 6-6 in LSC play.
