KINGSVILLE, Texas – TAMU Kingsville had too much offensive fire power, handing St. Edward's softball their first LSC losses of the season Saturday.
 
GAME 1: SEU 0 – TAMUK 6
 
St. Edward's was unable to get the bats going in game one, held to just one baserunner and no hits to fall 6-0.
 
Starting pitcher MCKENNA LEAMON was strong in the circle despite suffering the loss. In five innings of work, Leamon allowed just one earned run on five hits with two strikeouts.
 
GAME 2: SEU 5 – TAMUK 8
 
The Hilltopper bats were slow to get rolling in game two but were able to score two runs in the third to lead 2-1. ALEXIS MASSIE's triple brought home GENISA MARRERO-CARTER and K. McQuillan.
 
TAMUK answered with a solo homerun in the fourth to tie the game, but SEU stepped up to the challenge to score two in the fifth and one in the sixth to lead 5-2.
 
The Javelinas unloaded for six runs in the bottom of the sixth, dashing the Hilltopper's hopes for an upset.
 
Marrero-Carter went 3-3 with one walk and two runs while Massie posted two hits with two RBIs.
 
St. Edward's falls too 3-3 on the season and 0-2 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on Sunday, taking on Texas A&M International for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
