Box Score AUSTIN – St. Edward's softball managed to get five full rain-soaked innings in against #23 Angelo State before severe weather entered Central Texas and suspended play. The game was tied 3-3 before ASU got on a roll in the sixth.
MCKENNA LEAMON was strong early in the game, working out of jams and holding the Rambelles scoreless through the first two innings. ASU pushed two across in the third with two outs, but
KAYLEE MCQUILLAN's grounder to the right side allowed
MORGAN ARCIA to score and pull SEU within one.
A walk with bases loaded in the fourth scored one for ASU, but the Hilltoppers were able to get out of the jam without further injury and went back to work at the plate.
A two-out single by
JORDAN NEELY scored two and evened the score 3-3 through four. ASU loaded the bases in the fifth, but
LAUREN JARESH entered into the circle to secure the final out and keep the game tied.
As the rain intensified, so did the Rambelle offense as they scored six runs with no outs in the frame.
EMILY KLANIKA posted a strikeout for the first out of the inning just as lightening halted the game.
The teams will resume play on Saturday at noon, finishing game one before completing the doubleheader with game two to follow.
