AUSTIN - Just 79 seconds into overtime, SARAH GUNDERSON slid a perfect ball across the face of goal and to TRISTYN CABELLO who touched the ball past the defender and then into the back of the net to give St. Edward's a 1-0 win over St. Mary's in the Battle of the Saints. 

The first half was a lot of back and forth with St. Mary's controlling the attack most of the half, getting off three shots while holding the HIlltoppers to just one. 

As the second half got underway it was a different St. Edward's team that took the pitch. SEU had a renewed, attack-minded vision as they steadily pressed the Rattlers. REAGAN DYKES, KATIE GAY and CAROLINE KIRSCHNER had shots sail just over the crossbar as the clock ticked down in the match. 

With the opening whistle, St. Edward's headed into the Rattler's territory right away and needed just 1:19 of action to secure the win and hand StMU their first LSC loss of the year. 

SEU led 10-4 in shots but earned just one corner kick while allowing five. St. Edward's improves to 3-2-2 on the season and 1-0-1 in Lone Star Conference action. They return to the road to face Eastern New Mexico on Saturday at 1 pm CT.
