Hilltoppers fall to #10 Lubbock Christian

Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas – The St. Edward's women's basketball tackled their toughest opponent to date in #10 Lubbock Christian, falling 64-44 Thursday night. 
 
LCU rumbled out to an 8-0 lead to start the game and extended their lead to 12 by the end of the first, 19-7.
 
The Chaps inched toward a 20-point advantage in the second quarter, but SEU ended strong on a 6-0 run to trail by 12 at the break, 33-21.
 
Lubbock Christian was hot out of halftime and pushed their lead to 25 by the end of the third. MATILDA SORIC's three with 1:24 to play brought the Hilltoppers within 20 points, 64-44, but were unable to pull any closer as the final buzzer sounded.
 
St. Edward's shot 39.2 percent from the floor and 11.8 percent from three point range. BELLA MUSCOREIL led the way with ten points and was the only Hilltopper in double digits while MCCALL HAMPTON chipped in eight.
 
MORGAN GARY led on the boards with five rebounds while SAMMIE DUFEK posted two blocks.
 
The Hilltoppers fall to 9-8 on the year and 2-4 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on Saturday, facing Eastern New Mexico at 3 pm CT in Portales, New Mexico.
