Box Score PORTALES, New Mexico – St. Edward's men's basketball found their rhythm again, defeating Eastern New Mexico 85-66 Saturday afternoon.
After falling behind briefly early in the game, SEU held the Greyhounds to no field goals for seven minutes while building a seven-point lead, 24-17. By halftime, the Hilltoppers had extended their lead to 18, 42-24.
St. Edward's quickly pushed their lead over 20 in the second half and never looked back. ENMU only managed to pull within 17 points briefly before the Hilltoppers manufactured another run to lead by 31, 67-36, with 11 minutes to play.
With the win in hand, SEU closed out the game and wrapped up the win. St. Edward's shot 45.1 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent from three-point range.
UCHE DIBIAMAKA led the way with 22 points while
DANIEL VENZANT and
BENNETT MOHN added 17 points.
MASON HIX chipped in 15.
LOGAN COOK led on the glass with eight rebounds while Mohn posted three steals.
The Hilltoppers improve to 9-8 on the season and 3-4 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on Tuesday, hosting St. Mary's at 7:30 pm for the Battle of the Saints.
