LAREDO, Texas – St. Edward's volleyball wrapped up its season on the road with a 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 19-25, 17-25) loss to Texas A&M International.
St. Edward's fell behind 16-18 late in the first set but reeled off a 9-5 run keyed by reserve right-side hitter CAROLINE SWAN's four kills over that stretch to open the match with a win.
The second set was tightly contested, with Texas A&M International leading 14-12, and then the Dustdevils went on a 6-3 run to create separation for the 25-21 win.
A 7-2 run early in the third set gave Texas A&M International a 15-10 lead, holding on for the 25-19 win, and the Dustdevils scored 10 unanswered points midway through the fourth set for the 25-17 win.
MAYA SMALLS led the Hilltoppers weight nine kills, an ace, a solo block, and block assist for 11.5 points. CAROLINE SWAN, Audrey Quesnel, and HALLE SANDERS had eight kills each with Quesnel posting a .467 hitting percentage. AJANI HODGES was solid in the midle with seven kills on 13 attacks (.538), and four total blocks. SARAH KONOVODOFF contributed a match-high 30 digs, and Esther Grussing had 23 assists.
Megan Menchaca and Giulia Hortelan combine for 29 kills to lead the Dustdevils, who hit .182 as a team. St. Edward's wraps up its season with a 9-18 record, including 6-10 in conference play.
