AUSTIN, Texas - St. Edward's women's basketball team's second-half comeback against UAFS fell just short as they lost 67-62 against the Lions.
Â
The Hilltoppers came out the gates strong taking an early 21-17 lead after the first quarter. But a solid second quarter from the Lions gave them the advantage heading into halftime with a 40-31 lead.Â
Â
SEU would outscore UAFS 18-12 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to three heading into the fourth quarter. However, a late three by the Lions and turnovers by the Hilltoppers in the final two minutes put the game out of reach.
Â
Taylor Cockerill led all Hilltoppers with 11 points, and Sammie Dufek added 10 points of her own. Lauren Catherman led the team with six assists while also knocking down eight points.Â
Â
The Hilltoppers managed to force 21 turnovers in the loss, which generated 22 points for them.Â
Â
The loss drops the Hilltoppers record to 11-13 on the season and 4-9 in Lone Star Conference play, while UAFS improves to 6-13 on the year and 3-6 in conference play.

SEU is back in action on homecoming Saturday as they look to end their 4 game losing streak as Oklahoma Christian comes into town. Tipoff is set for 1 pm.
