SAN ANGELO, Texas - On Saturday, the St. Edward's softball team defeated East Central 10-0 and Bethany College 9-1. The Hilltoppers excelled both on the mound and in the batter's box to move to 4-0 on the year.

Game One: SEU 10, ECU 0

The Hilltoppers came out firing as they put up three runs in the home half of the first. Kathryn Connelly got things started with a two-run homer to left-center field, and Lauren Hoyt singled in a run to give SEU an early 3-0 advantage.Â

In the bottom of the second, Alexis Massie singled home a run. Later in the inning, Megan Morris doubled home two more runs to extend their lead to 6-0.Â

In the third, Genisa Marrero-Carter hammered a solo home run to extend their lead to 7-0. The Hilltoppers added three more runs in the fourth to put them ahead 10-0. Tyler Aasland drove in a run on a sacrifice lineout, and Lauren Hoyt drove in the game's final runs on a two-run homer over the left-field wall.Â

McKenna Leamon picked up her second victory of the year as she gave up just three hits through five innings of work.Â

Game Two: SEU 9, BC 1

In-game two, after a scoreless first inning, the Hilltoppers scored first on a single by Lauren Hoyt to give SEU the early 1-0 lead in the home half of the second inning.

Kathryn Connelly went deep on a solo shot over the left center field wall to extend their lead in the third. The Hilltoppers poured it on in the following inning and put up five runs to extend their lead to 7-0. A sacrifice fly by Lauren Hoyt, an RBI bunt single by Kaylee McQuillan, an RBI double by Kathryn Connelly, a sacrifice fly by Alexis Massie, and an RBI single by Valerie Brant helped SEU pull away from BC.Â

Cadie Currie picked up the win as she gave up just one run on one hit through five innings of work.Â
