COMMERCE, Texas - The St. Edward's men's basketball team defeated Texas A&M Commerce 81-66, while shooting over 50 percent from the field and over 42 percent from three-point range.
SEU came out firing as they took control of the first half early. The Hilltoppers held a commanding nine-point lead just five minutes into the game.
Heading into halftime, the Hilltoppers were up 48-33 over the Lions. The Hilltoppers' 10 three-pointers in the first half helped separate them from the Lions.
In the second half, the Hilltopper shooting cooled off and they relied on their big first half to help them secure the win against the Lions.
The Hilltoppers were led by Jake Krafka, who posted 20 points on 7-10 shooting from the field and 6-8 from three-point range. Uche Dibiamaka added 14, Bennett Mohn 12, and Daniel Venzant 12. Logan Cook led all players with 13 rebounds, and Daniel Venzant led all players with eight assists.
The win puts the Hilltoppers at 14-11 overall, and 8-7 in Lone Star Conference play.
SEU is back on the road Saturday afternoon as they take on UT Tyler. Tip-off is set for 4 pm.
