SAN ANTONIO, Texas -The St. Edward's softball team dropped both games of the doubleheader to the rival Rattlers Sunday afternoon. The Hilltoppers lost game one 2-1 in extra innings and game two 1-0.

Game One: STMU 2, SEU 1

It took ten innings, but the Rattlers were able to sneak out a win in game one of their doubleheader against the Hilltoppers.Â

After a scoreless first, the Rattlers scored the first run of the game on an RBI double in the second. In the top of the third, an RBI single by Kathryn Connelly drove in the Hilltoppers' only run of the afternoon, bringing the score to 1-1.Â

The next run of the game wouldn't come until the bottom of the tenth inning on a walk-off single by the Rattlers.

Pitchers McKenna Leamon and Cadie Currie combined to throw over nine innings while giving up two runs on eight hits.

Game Two: STMU 1, SEU 0

It was much of the same in game two, as great pitching for both teams dominated most of the game.Â

The lone run of the game was scored by the Rattlers in the bottom of the second on an RBI single.

The Hilltoppers were shut out for just the second time this season, as they could only collect four hits in the game.

Cadie Currie pitched five innings while giving up just one run on five hits. Currie earned the loss in both matchups as her record falls to 1-2 on the season.Â

SEU softball is back in action this weekend as they host Texas A&M Kingsville in their first Lone Star Conference matchup of the year. First pitch for Friday is scheduled for noon.Â
