AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's softball team was swept in their first Lone Star Conference series of the season against Texas A&M Kingsville. They lost game one 2-0, game two 10-1, and game three 2-0 as the offense struggled to get going.Â

Game One: TAMUK 2, SEU 0

Game one of three was a pitcher's duel as starters for both teams pitched effectively to keep the opposing team's offense off the board.Â

The first runs of the game didn't come until the fifth inning. TAMUK drove home the game's first run on an RBI single, and a bases-loaded walk later in the inning gave them a slim 2-0 lead.Â

McKenna Leamon pitched just over four innings while only giving up two runs on four hits.Â

The SEU offense could only tally four hits in the game as they were shut out in game one.Â

Game Two: TAMUK 10, SEU 1

The Javelinas didn't take long to drive in the first run of the game as an RBI single in the top of the first gave them the early 1-0 advantage.Â

After two scoreless innings, an RBI single by Megan Morris tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth. In the sixth, an RBI single for TAMUK gave them a slim 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.

In the seventh, the Javelinas broke open the game with an eight-run inning to take a commanding 10-1 lead in the final inning.Â

Pitcher Cadie Currie picked up the loss as she surrendered seven earned runs on 11 hits. Â

Game Three: TAMUK 2, SEU 0

The Hilltoppers third and final game against TAMUK was another pitcher's duel as both pitching staffs held the opposing team's offense off the board until extra innings.Â

Game three took extra innings, but the outcome was the same as the Hilltoppers dropped their final game against TAMUK.

Reena Toomey pitched a solid eight innings while giving up only two runs on five hits, but two late RBI singles for the Javelinas proved to be the difference makers in game three. Â

The SEU offense was only able to tally four hits in the game as they were shut out once again.
