Offensive struggles lead to loss at TAMIU

LAREDO, Texas – St. Edward's women's basketball team was outscored 30-14 in the first half as they fell 63-41 to Texas A&M International Saturday afternoon. 

 

The Dustdevils dominated the first half, holding a 15-9 lead after one quarter and then 15-5 in the second quarter to take a 30-14 lead into the half.

 

TAMIU limited the Hilltoppers to just 6-25 shooting from the field in the first half, as the Dustdevils shot just under 50% at 12-25 in the first half.

 

St. Edward's was never able to recover in the second half, trailing by double digits the rest of the way.

 

Morgan Gary and Isabel Langenberg led the Hilltoppers in scoring as they both contributed nine points. 

 

Gary also contributed five steals defensively, and Sammie Dufek added two more blocks to her season total.

 

The Hilltoppers managed to force 30 turnovers in the loss which generated 19 points from turnovers.

 

After their third consecutive loss, and five games in 12 days, St. Edward's falls to 11-12 on the season, and 4-8 in Lone Star Conference play, while Texas A&M International improves to 14-6 overall and 5-4 in conference play. 

 

SEU returns home looking to get back on track as they host UAFS on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
