LAWTON, Oklahoma - The St. Edward's softball team lost game one 10-1 but won game two 6-3 Saturday afternoon against Cameron.
Game One: CU 10, SEU 1
The Hilltoppers jumped out to an early lead following a Kathryn Connelly RBI single to left field, bringing the score to 1-0 in the top of the first. Later in the inning, the Aggies would tie the game at 1-1 on a solo home run.
In both the second and third innings, the Aggies put up a run to break the tie and give them a slim 3-1 lead heading into the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Aggies put up seven runs to take a commanding 10-1 lead.
Cadie Currie was given the loss as she gave up four earned runs on seven hits in over three innings of work.
Game Two: SEU 6, CU 3
Cameron took the early lead in the bottom of the first after a sacrifice fly gave them a 1-0 advantage.
The Hilltoppers tied the game at 1-1 on a Kaylee McQuillan RBI single in the second.
A throwing error allowed Alexis Massie to score in the third, giving the Hilltoppers a 2-1 lead.
After a scoreless fourth, the Hilltoppers put up three runs in the fifth. Maddy Larson drove in the inning's first run on a single to left field. Alexis Massie scored on a wild pitch, and Valerie Brant singled to right field to drive in the third run of the inning for the Hilltoppers, making the score 5-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Aggies added a run on a solo home run to bring the score to 5-2.
In the top of the sixth, an Alexis Massie RBI single gave the Hilltoppers a four-run lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.
The Aggies would add a run in the bottom of the seventh, but it was too little too late as the Hilltoppers were able to come away with the win.
McKenna Leamon pitched a complete game giving up three runs on six hits while striking out nine batters.
This weekend, SEU is back at home as they host West Texas A&M in a Friday doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
