LUBBOCK, Texas - In a Sunday afternoon matchup, the St. Edward's softball team dropped their doubleheader against #14 Lubbock Christian. The Hilltoppers lost game one 7-2 and game two 2-0.Â

Game One: LCU 7, SEU 2

In the second, the Chaps scored the first runs of the game, taking a 2-0 lead on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single.Â

In the top of the third, an error allowed the Hilltoppers to pull within one bringing the score to 2-1.Â

In the fifth, a fielder's choice and an error allowed the Chaps to put up two more runs extending their lead to 4-1.Â

An RBI single for the Chaps gave them a 5-1 lead in the sixth. Later in the inning, a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly extended the Chaps lead to 7-1.

The Hilltoppers added a run in the seventh on a fielder's choice to bring the final score to 7-2.

McKenna Leamon allowed six earned runs on eight hits while striking out five in six innings of work.Â

Game two of Sunday's doubleheader was a pitcher's duel as both starting pitchers combined to allow just seven hits and two runs.Â

A solo home run for the Chaps broke the tie in the fourth, giving them a 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless inning, the Chaps added to their lead on an RBI groundout to push the lead to 2-0.

Cadie Belle Currie pitched six innings giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out four batters.
