LAREDO, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer surrendered three goals in the second half to lose 3-2 on the road.
St. Edward's opened with two quick shots and a corner, missing right from
RYANN JERGOVICH and
REBEKKA REHRER. The Hilltoppers put the first shot on goal when TAMIU keeper Fabiana Solano stopped
ELENA RAMOS BANET's attempt.
The Dustdevils threatened in the 15th minute with a trio of corner kicks, but St. Edward's keeper
DARIA SCHLUMBOHM stopped the only shot on goal, a high center attempt off the boot of Candela Gonzalez.
ARI RAMIREZ got free for a shot in the 20th minute that missed right, then made good two minutes later with her fourth goal of the season.
The Hilltoppers scored again in the 29th minute when a deep throw-in from midfield found
TRISTYN CABELLO just outside the box. Cabello turned inside into an open space and launched a shot stopped by Solano.
CAITLYN GONZALEZ got the rebound, had her first shot blocked, then scored on her second attempt for the 2-0 lead.
Texas A&M International's Lucia Cuadra put a shot off the post in the 57th minute, then made good two minutes later when Sierra Clarke found Caudra on the cross from the left side to the far right post for the header score.
A foul on St. Edward's gave TAMIU a free kick just outside the box, and Gonzalez's attempt ricocheted off the left post, right to Sammy Hecht in front of the net for the equalizer in the 67th minute.
Hecht struck again a minute later on a cross from Clark to put TAMIU up 3-2.
