Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer suffered a 3-0 loss to the Oklahoma Christian Eagles, who got a hat trick from forward Kyla Lovelace.
Oklahoma Christian threatened around the 15-minute mark, putting together a pair of corner kicks and a shot that went wide right. The Hilltoppers struggled to clear the ball against the pressure, and Ruta Andrews escaped from a scrum at the edge of the Eagles' attacking third with the ball and delivered a perfectly weighted through ball to Kyla Lovelace for the opening goal.
St. Edward's generated a few dangerous passes to
ARI RAMIREZ on the right side but couldn't capitalize with a shot on goal.
Lovelace put Oklahoma Christian on the scoreboard again on a feed from Mady Castro near midfield, playing a long ball over the top of the defense for the assist and a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute. Andrews connected with Lovelace for another assist-goal combination in the 64
th minute for Lovelace's third goal.
Oklahoma Christian outshot St. Edward's 10-3, putting five on goal.
DARIA SCHLUMBOHM and
HANNAH SIMPSON each recorded a save in the net for St. Edward's. The Eagles also had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
St. Edward's drops to 4-4-2 with a 3-3-1 conference record. The Hilltoppers will travel next Wednesday to play Dallas Baptist University at 5:00 p.m.
