The top-seeded St. Edward's Esports Rainbow Six Sige team defeated No. 6-seed West Virginia University Tech to win the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Navigators Division Championship.
"I'm incredibly proud of what this team accomplished this semester. This team, specifically, was a team of all walk-ons who took advice and modeled the work ethic of some of our other teams and truly earned this for themselves," St. Edward's Head ESports Coach Sterling Henderson says. "I can't wait to see what they do after their division promotion."
The Hilltoppers competed in the Navigators Division, with higher divisions including the Emergents Division, Challengers Division, Champions Division, and Legends Division.
St. Edward's ended the tournament undefeated at a perfect 6-0, sweeping the Navigators group A division, then eliminating the University of the Cumberlands and Robert Morris University to advance to the championship.
The team of
RYAN RIOJAS, Andrew Grevera,
TREVOR MCCASLIN,
JACOB VELAZQUEZ, and Josh Rodriguez made it through the season with only a single map loss.
