St. Edward’s Welcomes Tony Zhong as its New Head Esports Coach

| By:
AUSTIN, Texas—The St. Edward's University athletics department announces Tony Zhong's appointment as its new head Esports coach, effective Sept. 3.

"We're excited to have Tony joining us at the Hilltop. He has an excellent vision for the program," Director of Athletics Dr. Jim Sarra says. "I believe his emphasis on academics and community aligns with SEU's mission, and he'll continue to grow our Esports program."

Before St. Edward's, Zhong served as the assistant Esports director at Ohio Northern University from 2022 through 2024, coordinating events, recruiting student-athletes, managing the content and production team, and building relationships between the program and the student community.

Zhong received his Bachelor of Science in Technological System Management with a Computer Science specialization from Stony Brook University. There, he was the President of the Stony Brook Esports Association, coordinating campus-wide events and managing multiple teams. As the coach of its League of Legends team, he helped secure a spot as a top-four collegiate team in the North America East Conference in the 2019 Playoffs.
