The St. Edward's women's basketball team earned the eighth seed in the Lone Star Conference tournament team and will play top-seeded Texas Woman's University on Thursday in Frisco, Texas, at 6:00 p.m.
St. Edward's earned the final spot in the tournament after splitting its final two games against St. Mary's to finish the season 14-16 with a 10-12 conference record. The Hilltoppers were one of three teams to finish with a 10-12 record in Lone Star Conference play vying for the final two spots, earning the eighth seed by virtue of its head-to-head win over Texas Permian Basin.
Texas Woman's won the Lone Star Conference regular-season title with a 19-3 conference record, finishing 24-4 overall. The Pioneers were ranked No. 12 in the nation in the Feb. 14 WBCA NCAA DII Top 25 Coachees Poll, dropping down from No. 4 after a losing three of four against Angelo State, Texas Permian Basin, and Texas-Tyler to close the season.
The eight-team, single-elimination tournament will be held March 2, 4-5 at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. All game will be live streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network. Tickets are available as single-session passes. Prices are $18 for adults and $12 for students. Each single-session ticket includes two tournament games and is redeemable for the specific session only. Tickets can be purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office or online through Ticketmaster from now until the end of the tournament.
