DENTON, Texas – After picking up a first-set victory, St. Edward's volleyball dropped three consecutive sets in a loss to Texas Woman's University.
KELLI FORDING and
ADDY BADLEY combined for 21 kills, but the Hilltoppers hit just .092 as a team. Tori Woods led three Pioneers in double-digit kills with 19 on .289 hitting, two aces, and a pair of block assists.
St. Edward's opened the match with a balanced attack in the first set, getting a combined five and four kills on better than .400 hitting from
KAT NEILLE and
ADDY BADLEY. The Hilltoppers hit .270 in the set, closing it out with a Badley kill for a 25-23 win.
The Hilltopper attack struggled the rest of the way, hitting below .100 in the following three sets with a combined 21 attack errors, losing 25-13, 25-15, 25-17.
Fording had 11 kills, and Badley had 10. The latter hit a team-high .259.
ALTHEA MORRIS set 38 assists, and
BEA ANGELES had 16 digs.
St. Edward's drops to 9-10 with a 1-7 conference record. The Hilltoppers will travel next weekend with matches at West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.
