This week at the Hilltop, crossover season ends with Men's and Women's Basketball opening Lone Star Conference play in Lubbock, Texas, against Lubbock Christian. The men's team also plays in Wichita Falls, Texas, against Midwestern State.

Women's Basketball opened the non-conference portion of its season against a trio of nationally-ranked opponents and regional rivals and has a 3-4 record. 
 
Sophomore point guard J.P. leads the team with 16.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game on 46/36/72 percent shooting splits. 
 
The Hilltoppers have started multiple games with stifling first-quarter defense, pressuring the ball with precise defensive rotations behind hard hedges and doubles. St. Edward's has a defensively versatile frontcourt in AINSLEY THUNELL and MIKAH CHAPMAN and a strong point-of-attack defense between J.P. and KIANA BENNETT
 
St. Edward's will face its fourth nationally-ranked opponent of the season. Lubbock Christian received votes in the WBCA preseason poll and is currently No. 12 in the D2CSC national rankings with a 5-0 record. 
 
Lubbock Christian has the fifth-best offense in the LSC and is the most accurate 3-point shooting team at 42 percent. Senior Grace Foster leads the LSC in scoring at 21 points per game and is fourth in rebounding at 9.2 per game.

Men's Basketball has opened its season with six wins in seven games, including a sweep of its RMAC opponents and a 74-71 victory over nationally-ranked Colorado Mesa. 
 
GAVINO RAMOS leads a balanced scoring attack at 15.6 points and 4.0 assists per game, leading the conference in total assists and ranked tenth in the nation. He's attempted the third-most free throws in Division II. 
 
St. Edward's is third in the LSC with 22 turnovers forced per game. It capitalizes on extra possessions with the most 3-pointers made in the conference. 
 
Lubbock Christian is 2-2 with a win over No. 8-ranked Colorado Mines. The Chapparals are led by Amondo Miller, Jr.'s 16.3 points per game on 47/40/85 shooting splits. Lubbock Christian boosts its offense with a high volume of 3-point attempts (24.5 per game) and tremendous accuracy (42.9 percent), ranking third in the LSC in both categories.

Midwestern State is 3-1, led by high-scoring guard Mason Gibson, averaging 22.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game on 45/38/72 percent shooting splits while leading the LSC in scoring. 
 
The Mustangs take care of the ball with the league's best assist-to-turnover ratio and fifth-highest-scoring offense, directed by Pierre Sanders.
