AUSTIN, Texas – Associate Vice President for Athletics Debbie Taylor and the St. Edward's Athletics Department are proud to announce the Hilltoppers' 2024 Hall of Fame Class, featuring five former student-athletes.
 
St. Edward's will induct Rachel Defauw '14, Andrew Fox '15, Julia Harrison '17, Haley Kuempel '15, and Jennifer Hollas McGee '07 into the Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, April 26.
 
"We're proud to induct this 2024 Hall of Fame Class," Taylor says. "Not only did each inductee have amazing individual accomplishments, but they were also integral to great team success at the Hilltop." 
 
Rachel Defauw (Murray) | Women's Soccer 2010-2013
 
Defeauw was a four-year starting forward for the St. Edward's women's soccer program from 2010-2013, earning the 2013-2014 Heartland Conference Woman of the Year and finishing among the top ten finalists for NCAA Woman of the Year and the St. Edward's Female Student-Athlete of the Year.
 
Already a Heartland Conference Hall of Fame Class of 2018 member, Defeauw has four NSCAA All-Region and four D2CCA All-Region selections, earning First Team from both in 2011. She's a three-time Academic All-American, three-time First Team All-Conference honoree, and the 2010 Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year.
 
Defeauw is tied for St. Edward's career record for games played (82) and holds the program's career records for assists (34), points (114), and shots (218). She's second all-time in goals scored (40), shots on goal (111), and game-winning goals (17).
 
She is in the top five for single-season records in multiple statistical categories, including second in assists (11, 2010), fifth in shots on goal (33, 2011), as well as third (six, 2011) and fourth (five, 2012) in game-winning goals. She's twice posted seven points in a game, the third most in program history.
 
St. Edward's had a 68-9-6 (.855) record, including 36-3-1 (.913) in conference play during Defeauw's four years, winning three Heartland Conference Championships and earning four NCAA Tournament bids highlighted by St. Edward's 2013 Elite Eight appearance.
 
ANDREW FOX | Men's Soccer 2011-2014
 
Fox played four years for the men's soccer team, starting multiple games each season, including as a full-time starter in 2014 as one of the best midfielders in the Heartland Conference, earning a spot on its 20th Anniversary Team.
 
In 2014, he was named All-American First Team by D2CCA and Second Team by the NSCAA after setting program single-season records for shots on goal (38) and game-winning goals (eight). His 41 points (fifth), nine assists (third), and 64 shots (second) were also top-five seasons in program history.
 
Fox was named All-Region First Team for two years and has had three All-Conference seasons, earning Second Team in 2013 and First Team in 2012 and 2014, winning the Heartland Conference Player of the Year in 2014. He is the program's all-time leader in game-winning goals (14), third in points (91) and shots on goal (82), fourth in goals scored (36) and fifth in assists (19).
 
St. Edward's posted a 44-19-10 (.671) record, including 23-7-4 (.735) in conference play, during his four seasons, winning the Heartland Conference Championship in 2012, 2013, and 2014 with an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in his final season.
 
Julia Whitacre (Harrison) | Women's Soccer 2013-2016
 
Whitacre is a four-year starting midfielder and one of the best defensive players in St. Edward's women's soccer history, earning All-America and Academic All-America Third Team in 2016 and All-America Honorable Mention in 2013. She also earned All-Region honors in all four years, with First Team honors in 2013, 2014, and 2016 and Second Team honors in 2015.
 
She was one of the best defensive midfielders in Heartland Conference history, with four All-Heartland Conference First Team selections, the 2013 Freshman of the Year, three All-Tournament Teams, including the 2014 Heartland Conference Tournament MVP, and the 2016 Heartland Conference Player of the Year. She was also the 2016 SEU Female Senior Athlete of the Year.
 
During Julia's tenure, St. Edward's had a 62-13-7 (.799) record, including 37-2-1 (.938) in conference play. Her Hilltoppers won two Heartland Conference Championships and three regular-season titles, earning four NCAA Tournament bids, advancing to the Elite Eight in 2013 and Sweet 16 in 2015.
 
Haley Kuempel (Haught) | Women's Golf 2011-2015
 
Kuempel is on the shortlist for the conversation of the greatest women's golfer in St. Edward's history.
 
In 2014, she became the first SEU women's golfer to earn WGCA First Team All-American honors. She earned Second Team in 2015, Honorable Mention in 2013, and All-Region First Team in 2012 and 2013. She was a four-time qualifier for NCAA Nationals.
 
She is the St. Edward's leader in rounds played (124), scoring average vs. par in a season (3.06), par or better rounds, birdies in a season (73), eagles in a season (two), lowest single-round score (64), lowest 72-hole score (293), most par or better rounds in a career (23) and season (8), and the best individual national championship finish (fourth). Kuempel is second in tournament wins (7) and career lowest scoring average vs. par (4.32).
 
Kuempel is also one of the best women's golfers in the history of the Heartland Conference. She is a four-time All-Heartland Conference First Team honoree, earning Freshman of the Year, and was a two-time Heartland Conference Player of the Year. She twice won the conference championship individual title and led the Hilltoppers to two team conference championships.
 
Jennifer Hollas McGee | Softball 2004-2007
 
Hollas McGee was a member of St. Edward's softball's back-to-back Heartland Conference Championship team, winning the Hilltoppers' first Heartland Conference championship in 2006, then repeating the feat a year later with a 15-1 conference record.
 
She was All-Heartland Conference First Team for all four years, earning All-NFCA All-Region First Team in 2007 and Second Team in 2006. She also made the CoSIDA Academic All-District team in 2006.
 
Hollas McGee is the program's all-time leader in triples (18), second in at-bats (726), hits (246), total bases (360), third in runs scored (137) and doubles (42), fifth in games started (233), sixth in games played (233), RBI (116), and stolen bases (52), and ninth in slugging percentage (.496) and walks (59).
 
She's in the top ten across multiple single-season statistical categories, including the third most at-bats (220), hits (85), and total bases (132), fourth in triples (six), seventh in games played and started (67), runs scored (47), and doubles (14), and ninth in home runs (nine), and RBI (42).
 
St. Edward's posted a 140-97 (.591) record in her four seasons and made the NCAA Regionals in 2006 and 2007.
 
The Hall of Fame inductions will be part of the Alumni Honors Ceremony held in the Mabee Ballrooms in the Ragsdale Center, with a reception in the Jones Global Events Center at 4:00 p.m. and a ceremony start time of 5:00 p.m. The event is free and open to everyone with Eventbrite registration, which the alumni office will provide at a later date.
