AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's baseball surrendered five runs in the fourth inning and 14 hits overall in a 13-3 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville in the third game of the four-game series.
Texas A&M-Kingsville scored in the opening inning on an error. Garrett Thompson drew a one-out walk, Vincent Sanchez moved him over on a single, and Thompson scored on an error.
St. Edward's put two on to open the bottom of the second when Texas A&M-Kingsville starter Jake Thielen plunked
DILLON FLORES and
CARLO FIGUEROA to open the inning. However, St. Edward's closed the inning with back-to-back singles that ended in outs on plays at the plate.

LUKE NEGRETE, who
NICK DAVIS replaced. Negrete went 3.1 innings, surrendering four hits and six runs, including four earned, with three walks and two hit batters in the loss.
Javelinas' reliever Marco Martinez walked the bases loaded with two outs in the fourth but escaped the inning unscathed.
St. Edward's
JACKSON PETERS took the mound to start the fifth and surrendered back-to-back hits, with Kyle Perales drilling an RBI double down the left-field line. The Javelinas also scored on a sacrifice fly and wild pitch.
Martinez's control problem continued in the fifth. After
CONNOR COX reached on an error and
LANCE LITTLE flied out, Martinez walked
DAVIS DREWEK with a wild pitch, putting runners on the corners. Flores capitalized with an RBI single up the middle, then Martinez walked back-to-back hitters to score a second run.
LANCE LITTLE added an RBI single up the middle in the sixth.
Texas A&M-Kingsville added two insurance runs in the seventh, then two more in the ninth for the final 13-3 score.
St. Edward's is still up 2-1 in the series against Texas A&M-Kingsville and will conclude it tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
