RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference released its 2024 preseason volleyball poll, ranking St. Edward's No. 12 in the conference with
KELLI FORDING as the Hilltoppers' offensive player to watch,
CORA YOUNG as its defensive player to watch, and
ALTHEA MORRIS as its setter to watch.
Defending LSC Tournament champion West Texas A&M is the favorite to repeat, totaling 674 points, including 23 of 41 first-place votes. DBU collected 15 first-place votes, totaling 665 points. The two teams tied for the LSC regular-season title, each posting a 14-2 mark in league play. West Texas A&M was the national runner-up last season.
Reigning LSC Player of the Year Delany Fuller from DBU was selected as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, West Texas A&M's Taytum Stow claimed her second consecutive Preseason LSC Defensive Player of the Year, and Texas A&M International's Emma Lade is the Preseason LSC Setter of the Year.
The LSC opens its 42nd volleyball season with a new member among the 17 teams, adding Sul Ross State to the conference. The 2024 season begins on the weekend of Sept. 5, and the LSC Tournament is slated for Nov. 21-23, hosted by the top seed.
