Women's Soccer Falls To Regis

AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer made a late comeback push but surrendered two goals in the final minute of a 4-1 loss to Regis.

Regis doubled St. Edward's in shot attempts 8-4 in each half, putting nine of its 16 shots on goal. Natalie Bunch put Regis on the board early with a penalty kick in the ninth minute. Bunch managed two of the following three shots, and Regis continued to press its attack with a goal from Alex Baer in the 29th minute for the 2-0 lead at the half.

St. Edward's pulled within one on a deep goal from ANNIE ROCHA in the 70th minute. Rocha received a feed from CLAIRE SMITH near midfield, made a quick turn, pushed the ball a few steps, and rocketed the ball from distance down the middle of the field for her third goal in three games.

Regis turned to its bench in the final 10 minutes, getting plays from the fresh legs of Paige Davis and Madelin Gardner. Both entered the game at the 80:47 mark, and two minutes later, Davis found Elsa Nolen to extend Regis's lead. A minute later, Gardner added the insurance goal.

St. Edward's drops to 1-2-1 with the loss. The Hilltoppers will host nationally-ranked Colorado Mesa on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
