Men's Basketball Buries Cameron With Forced Turnovers and Offensive Rebounds

LAWTON, Okla. – St. Edward's men's basketball outscored Cameron 23-2 in points off turnovers, wrapping up its road trip with an 82-63 victory over the Aggies. 
 
GAVINO RAMOS directed the Hilltopper offense efficiently, calling his own number for 22 points on 10-for-18 shooting and dishing out seven of St. Edward's 19 assists. LEWIS ROWE added another double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. 
 
St. Edward's overwhelmed Cameron with its defensive pressure and energy in the first half, forcing 13 turnovers, recording seven steals, and crashing the glass for 10 offensive rebounds. Rowe did most of the damage on the glass with four offensive rebounds, but St. Edward's sent wave after wave after the Aggies.
 
Seven different Hilltoppers recorded an offensive rebound, and St. Edward's seven steals came from seven different players. 
 
St. Edward's closed the first half on a 24-10 run, shooting 10-for-17 and forcing seven turnovers over eight minutes. Ramos, LATIEK BRISCOE, SAM MCKINNEY, and CONOR MCMANUS each hit a 3-pointer over the run, and Ramos led the way with seven points. 
 
Ramos scored 11 points with three assists at the break, and McManus added 10 and two. St. Edward's took 46 shots in the first half, compared to Cameron's 25 for the 46-31 lead. 
 
St. Edward's pounded the ball inside in the second half. Rowe scored 10 points on 5-for-9 shooting, Ramos added 11 points and four assists, and the Hilltoppers outscored the Aggies 30-16 in points in the paint to lead by double digits the entire way. 
 
McManus was the third Hilltopper in double figures with 13 points. LATIEK BRISCOE led the second unit with seven points in a balanced attack, outscoring Cameron 19-6 in bench points. Lavell Brodnex led Cameron with 22 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. 
 
St. Edward's improves to 11-8 with a 5-5 conference record. The Hilltoppers will return home and host Texas Permian Basin and Angelo State next Thursday and Saturday.
