Men's Basketball Records Season-High 27 Assists in Win Over Texas A&M-Kingsville

AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's men's basketball moved the ball with precision and purpose, assisting on a season-high 27 of its 35 made field goals in a 92-74 win over the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas. 
 
LATIEK BRISCOE led all scorers with 15 points off the bench, and the Hilltopper starting five all scored in double figures. Four Hilltoppers finished with at least four assists, led by GAVINO RAMOS's six. Ramos also scored 13 points, surpassing 1,000 for his career. 
 
CONOR MCMANUS and MASON COURTNEY led St. Edward's in the first half, combining for 15 points and swarming on defense. McManus helped spur a 9-0 run early with two steals and a block, bringing his season totals to a team-high 12 blocks and second-best 25 steals. 
 
Isaiah Payne led Texas A&M-Kingsville with seven points, and Allen Singleton, Jake Arnold, and James Livingston scored five each. Texas A&M-Kingsville stayed in the game with eight 3-pointers on 17 attempts, but the Hilltoppers outscored the Javelinas 8-2 in points off turnovers. LEWIS ROWE and JAMISON KAY notched three assists each to lead 47-35 at the break. 
 
LATIEK BRISCOE caught fire with 11 points in the second half, hitting both of his 3-point attempts and shooting 4-for-5 from the field. Ramos settled in with seven points and five assists after the break, working the two-man game with his frontcourt down the stretch to keep the Javelinas at bay. Ramos hit Rowe for a few short flip shots and Kay for a pair of dunks. The Hilltoppers shot 17-for-29 (58.6 percent) in the second half, including 5-for-13 from the 3-point line. 
 
McManus finished with 14 points, four rebounds, and four steals, and Ramos added 13 points and six assists. Courtney added 10 points and two assists, Kay scored 11 with five assists, and Rowe scored 10 with four assists. 
 
St. Edward's improves to 10-5 with a 4-2 conference record. The Hilltoppers will travel next week to play UT-Tyler and Dallas Baptist.
