Women's Soccer Controlled Possession Early and Defended Masterfully Late Against UT Tyler

AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer controlled possession, created multiple scoring opportunities, and made several extraordinary, critical defensive plays to battle UT Tyler to a scoreless draw in Lone Star Conference action at Lewis-Chen Family Field.

MARIE HANNEDOUCHE returned to the lineup after missing the previous game and, after withstanding UT Tyler's early surge, reinvigorated the Hilltopper attack. St. Edward's controlled possession with precision and intent, pressing forward through Hannedouche, BAILEY WILLIAMS, and RILEY SISSON to generate six first-half corner kicks and 12 shots—led by ANNIE ROCHA's four.

The Hilltopper starters went the entire first 45 minutes while the Patriots cycled through substitutions, taking advantage of fresh legs to get three shots in the final four minutes, including two stopped by St. Edward's keeper DARIA SCHLUMBOHM. Williams and MADISON CRESWELL each put a shot on goal for the Hilltoppers.

Both teams increased their intensity in the second half, combining for 21 shots, although the Patriots gained a 5-1 edge on corners.

After going relatively unchallenged in the first half, Schlumbohm did some heavy lifting to earn the clean sheet in the second, stopping six UT Tyler shots on goal and breaking up several others. UT Tyler put bodies in the box multiple times in the second half. However, MCKENNA KEELEY, LANE ROGERS, TESSA DABNEY, Williams, and others managed to clear every threat and limit second opportunities.

St. Edward's (2-5-2, 1-2-2) returns to the road this weekend, facing Midwestern State (3-1-4, 3-0-2) on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
