From Whistle to Horn, Hilltoppers Dictate in Laredo

LAREDO, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer started fast and finished strong, getting goals from RAINEY SIMMONS and ISABELLA RUIZ to earn a 2-0 shutout over Texas A&M International on Saturday night at Dustdevil Field.

The Hilltoppers (5-7-2, 4-4-2 LSC) struck early when Simmons capitalized just 102 seconds into the match, collecting a feed from MARIE HANNEDOUCHE and slotting home her third goal of the season. The early strike gave St. Edward's control of the match, with the Hilltoppers outshooting the Dustdevils 9–3 in the first half and holding a steady edge in possession.

In the second half, the Hilltoppers maintained their composure as TAMIU (2-7-3, 1-6-2) pressed forward. Sophomore forward ISABELLA RUIZ provided insurance in the 72nd minute, finishing unassisted for her second goal of the year and second in as many matches.

Goalkeeper DARIA SCHLUMBOHM anchored the defense with two saves to record her fourth shutout of the season, as St. Edward's limited the Dustdevils to just five total shots and none on target over the final 45 minutes.

SIERRA PADILLA led the attack with three shots, while Rogers, Ruiz, and RAINEY SIMMONS each put one on frame. St. Edward's also held a 5–4 edge in corner kicks.

The Hilltoppers hit the road against Wednesday to face top-ranked DBU, followed by a home game against Lubbock Christian on Saturday.
