Jennings Sparks Hilltoppers, Hannedouche Catches Fire

PORTALES, N.M. – MACY JENNINGS put Eastern New Mexico on its heels from the opening kickoff, beating a Greyhound to a ball played back to the keeper and notching her first collegiate goal less than 15 seconds into the match. That early strike set the tone for a dominant St. Edward's performance, culminating in a 4-0 win.

The Hilltoppers controlled the game from the jump, owning 62 percent of first-half possession while generating seven shots, including five on goal, and three corner kicks. MARIE HANNEDOUCHE ran roughshod through the Greyhounds' defense, scoring twice in the first half to give St. Edward's a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.

St. Edward's second goal came off a BAILEY WILLIAMS setup. Williams split two defenders with a sharp cut to the middle before sending a diagonal ball to Hannedouche, who froze her marker and tucked the ball just past the diving keeper inside the far post less than three minutes in. Hannedouche struck again in the 27th minute, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to deliver a one-touch finish from a ball headed right to her feet.

The Hilltoppers didn't let up after halftime, outshooting Eastern New Mexico 10-0 in the second half and putting four more attempts on frame. JISELL ZAVALETA DENOVA set up the final goal in the 75th minute, whipping a precise cross to AVA MAULDIN for the score.

With the win, St. Edward's improves to 3-6-2 overall and 2-3-2 in Lone Star Conference play. The Hilltoppers return home for Senior Day on Saturday against UT Permian Basin.
