AUSTIN, Texas — The Lone Star Conference released its weekly awards on Monday, naming St. Edward's senior forward JAMISON KAY its Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for Week 15.
Kay averaged 23.3 points, eight rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game to lead the No. 15-ranked Hilltoppers to a 3-0 week against St. Mary's, Angelo State, and UT Permian Basin in their final home games of the regular season.
The senior scored at least 20 points in each contest, highlighted by a career-high 24 in a 73-71 victory over St. Mary's in the Battle of the Saints. He also helped secure the overtime win against Angelo State with a late dunk and two free throws, then closed Senior Day with a dominant 23-point, 11-rebound double-double while adding five assists. Over the three-game stretch, Kay shot 59.5 percent from the field, including 7-of-9 from three-point range, while adding two blocks and a steal.
Kay has reached double figures in every game this February, averaging 21.4 points on 59.1 percent shooting, including 9-of-14 from beyond the arc, over five games. He has also averaged 7.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and one steal per game during that span while helping St. Edward's extend its winning streak to seven games.
The Hilltoppers are 23-4 overall and 12-4 in Lone Star Conference play. St. Edward's begins a three-game road stretch tonight at Oklahoma Christian before traveling to Western New Mexico on Thursday and Sul Ross State on Friday. The regular season concludes Feb. 26 at St. Mary's.
