AUSTIN, Texas — The Lone Star Conference unveiled its 2026 Men's Basketball Championship bracket, placing St. Edward's as the No. 6 seed and setting up a quarterfinal matchup against No. 3 seed Lubbock Christian on Thursday, March 5 at noon inside Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
The Hilltoppers (24-7, 13-7 LSC) enter postseason play having qualified for the conference tournament every year since 2020, including back-to-back appearances in the championship game in 2020 and 2021. Awaiting them is a Lubbock Christian squad (26-4, 17-3 LSC) ranked No. 9 nationally and riding a six-game winning streak, with appearances in each of the last two LSC title games.
The eight-team, single-elimination tournament runs March 5, 7-8, with the winner earning the Lone Star Conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division II South Central Regional, scheduled for March 13-17 at a site to be announced. The winner of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament will receive the regional's other automatic berth.
The next six highest-ranked teams in the region will receive at-large bids into the NCAA Tournament. St. Edward's is currently ranked fifth in the latest NCAA South Central Regional rankings.
Dallas Baptist (24-6, 18-2 LSC) secured the conference's regular-season championship and the tournament's top seed, extending its winning streak to nine games. The No. 23-ranked Patriots open against No. 8 seed Texas A&M-Kingsville (13-15, 10-10 LSC) at 6 p.m.
Eastern New Mexico (24-4, 17-3 LSC), ranked No. 12 nationally, earned the No. 2 seed after winning 12 of its last 13 games. The Greyhounds face No. 7 seed West Texas A&M (20-10, 12-8 LSC), a program that owns a conference-record 12 tournament titles.
On the opposite side of the bracket, No. 4 seed Western New Mexico (22-6) makes its LSC tournament debut against No. 5 seed St. Mary's (20-8), marking the Rattlers' fourth appearance in the last five seasons.
Semifinal action is set for Saturday, March 7, with the championship game tipping off Sunday, March 8 at 1 p.m. — the same day Daylight Saving Time begins.
