Hilltoppers Selected Second in LSC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll

AUSTIN, Texas — St. Edward's men's soccer was selected to finish second in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, voted on by the league's head coaches, sports information directors and selected media members.

Defending national champion Midwestern State received 351 points and 30 of the possible 33 first-place votes to enter the season as the heavy favorite to repeat as LSC champion. St. Edward's followed with 293 points.

The Hilltoppers are coming off an 8-6-4 season, including a 6-2-2 conference record and an appearance in the LSC Tournament semifinals.

Reigning LSC Freshman of the Year FILIP ADAMSKI was named St. Edward's Offensive Player to Watch. TIMMY HOLLENBECK was selected as the Hilltoppers' Defensive Player to Watch, while KALEO PEREZ-FRANCIS earned Goalkeeper to Watch recognition.

Adamski, an All-LSC First Team and All-Region selection, scored six goals with an assist to tie for the team lead with 13 points last season. His six goals included one game-winner.

Hollenbeck emerged as a full-time starter, starting 10 of the Hilltoppers' final 17 matches and finishing seventh on the team in minutes played. He contributed one goal and one assist and earned LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping St. Edward's record a clean sheet against West Texas A&M and clinch the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

Perez-Francis split time in goal with ANGEL RAMIREZ before starting seven matches following Ramirez's season-ending injury. Perez-Francis recorded 30 saves, a 1.48 goals-against average and a .741 save percentage.

Midwestern State swept the conference's preseason individual awards. Parker Plaxo was named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Davis Mays earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Jake Morris was selected as the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.

St. Edward's opens the season at home against conference rival Texas A&M International in a non-conference matchup Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m.
