Junior (2015): Appeared in 46 games while making 27 starts…produced a .260 batting average with 18 runs scored and eight RBI…was 7-for-8 in stolen bases for the year…had perfect fielding percentage in 14 attempts…best game was a two-hit performance in a victory over Western New Mexico in the Desert Stinger Classic.
Sophomore (2014): Started one game while appearing in 19 games…had two hits in eight plate appearances…made several appearances as a pinch runner…went three for four in stolen base attempts for the year.
Freshman (2013): Saw action in 37 games while starting in 16 in her first season at St. Edward’s…recorded a .310 batting average in 42 at bats…tallied 13 hits and five RBI…defensively, she had a fielding percentage of .938…had a season high three hits and two RBI at the Heartland Conference Tournament against TAMU-International (03/02/13).
Prep: Played four years of softball at Brookeland High School…was the newcomer of the year her freshman season…was named to the first-team all-district during her sophomore season…was the district’s most valuable player her junior season, while helping her team win the district championship by going undefeated in district…her senior season she led the team back to the playoffs…member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: Laura Ann Margaret Alvarado was born on July 13, 1993…daughter of Robert and Margaret Alvarado of Brookeland, Texas…has five siblings: Catherine (17), Nicholas (16), Moises (15), Marilyn (13), and Michael (12)…plans to study Business Administration at St. Edward’s…enjoys bass fishing, horseback riding, reading, and volunteering as a softball coach…her biggest athletic thrill is playing in front of a packed crowd.
