Trey Lindsey

Trey Lindsey enters his fourth season in 21-22 as the Assistant Coach for the Hilltoppers. During his first 3 seasons the Hilltoppers have made their first ever Sweet 16 appearance,  advanced to the NCAA tournament twice, appeared in three straight conference tournament championship games, and won a Heartland Conference regular season and tournament championship in 2018. St. Edward’s has also amassed an amazing 69-16 record during that stretch.

Prior to St. Edward’s Lindsey served as the assistant coach at Loyola University New Orleans under former Hilltopper Stacy Hollowell. In his one season at Loyola New Orleans the Wolfpack finished the season with a 16-13 record and a trip to the conference semi finals. While at Loyola Lindsey was instrumental in the recruitment of Zach Wrightsil and Myles Burns who have since become three time All American recipients in the NAIA.

At both stops Lindsey has been in charge of the defensive implementation, recruiting, and assisting in all on court coaching.

Lindsey got his start as the graduate assistant at St. Edward’s in 2016-17 after finishing his career for Coach Cook as a player in 2016. A standout student-athlete under Coach Cook, Lindsey started in all 60 games he appeared in, averaging 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per outing.
The 6-6 forward returned to his home city of Austin in 2013 after two years playing NCAA DI basketball at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Trey appeared in 45 games for the Warhawks and made 14 starts during that span, highlighted by an 18-point performance against Arkansas-Little Rock during his sophomore season.

Before heading to Monroe, Lindsey was a three-year letterman at Bowie High School in Austin where he helped the Bulldogs capture two district championships and one regional crown during his tenure.

Lindsey holds a B.S in Kinesiology and a M.S. in Leadership and Change from St. Edward’s University. Lindsey and his wife, the former Madeline Wheeler, (a former St. Edward’s women’s basketball player) reside in Austin.

“Trey has been an integral part of our success as a player and coach since he came to the hilltop in 2013. As a coach he has grown every year and is now fully in charge of recruiting, defense and many day to day responsibilities. It is no coincidence that our program has taken a major leap since Trey arrived.”- Coach Andre Cook
