Junior (2014-15): Redshirted the season.
Sophomore (2013-14): In his second season he recorded an overall singles record of 3-7 and a doubles record of 3-1…he broke even at 1-1 in Heartland Conference play.
Freshman (2012-13): Recorded a 4-7 overall singles record in his first season on the Hilltop…defeated Drury’s Sebastian Zapata (03/21/13), 2-6, 6-2, 1-0…had a 2-2 record on the doubles side…he and partner Michael Garza defeated a duo from Dallas Baptist (11/29/12), 8-0…his second doubles win came against an Incarnate Word team (10/10/12), defeating the Cardinals 8-6, with Adrian Garza as his partner.
Prep: Competed at Bowie High School in Austin, Texas…during the 2009 season helped his team capture the district championship…in 2010 he qualified for regionals as an alternate…in 2011 he qualified for the 5A State Championship, which was the first time anyone from his school had made it that far in 15 years…was a member of the National Honor Society and won the Trustee Award all four years of high school.
Personal: Jacob Josef Belanger was born on June 11, 1994…son of Jim and Leanne Belanger of Austin, Texas…has one sibling: Amy (22)…plans to study pre-med at St. Edward’s with career hopes of becoming a physician…enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, reading, listening to music, and swimming…his biggest athletic thrill is qualifying for the 5A State Championship.
