DALLAS, Texas – Sophomore pitcher Emily Mayfield was named Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of January 28^th. This was her second conference pitcher of the week award in her career.
 
Mayfield picked up where she left off last season, as she was the catalyst behind St. Edward's run on opening weekend. She gave five strong innings of relief after watching fellow pitcher go down with an injury versus Eastern New Mexico. Mayfield followed up her steady performance with a shutout of #22 Abilene Christian, scattering six hits, four of which never left the infield. Mayfield battled through a tough second inning to keep the Hilltoppers in a tie game after 5.1 innings versus Incarnate Word. Mayfield was 2-0 with a 1.37 ERA while being named to the St. Mary's DII Collegiate Classic All-Tournament Team.
