St. Edward’s University Volleyball player Katie Martin was named Heartland Conference Co-Hitter of the Week on Monday by the conference office, for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6. The honor marks the Hilltoppers’ first conference honor this season and the first of Martin’s career.
 
Martin had a strong opening week for St. Edward’s by smashing 53 kills in just
14 sets. She led the conference with 3.79 kills per set. Her 22 kills against Franklin
Pierce were just four shy of the Hilltopper’s single-match record. Martin hit over .300 in three of her first four matches, including hitting .400 against Tiffin.
She also had six blocks, six assists, and two serving aces.
