Box Score AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's Men's Soccer team had a hard time finding offense Friday afternoon as they tied Eastern New Mexico, 0-0 at the SEU Soccer Field.
In the first half, neither St. Edward's (0-3-2) nor Eastern New Mexico (5-1-1) could muster any offense. The Hilltoppers had the only shot of the first half and each team had eight fouls.
In the second half, both teams picked up the offense. The Greyhounds sent six shots towards the net while the Hilltoppers registered four shots.
In the second overtime, Eastern New Mexico came close with a shot from 30 yards out by Tyler Hart but Hilltopper goalkeeper Matt Moore made the save.
St. Edward's almost walked away with the victory in the 104 thminute when senior Kevin Klaus sent the ball across the goal mouth and it was deflected by a Greyhound defender towards the net. The ball hit off of the right post and went over the end line.
Both teams finished the match with seven shots each. St. Edward's had a slight edge in cornerkicks, 5-4. Six yellow cards were given and Eastern New Mexico's Sean Diaz was booked with a red card in the 80 thminute.
St. Edward's will be back in action Sunday when they host Truman State. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at the SEU Soccer Field.
