LAREDO, Texas – Playing her fourth-straight 40-minute game in a row,
STEPHANIE DEKKERS tallied 16 points and five assists to lead St. Edward's to a 68-58 win over Texas A&M-International Saturday afternoon at the Kinesiology and Convocation Center.
TAMU-International (5-12, 2-4 HC) opened the game hot from behind the three-point line. The Dustdevils would hit five treys in the first 12 minutes to race out to a 29-15 lead with 8:12 on the clock. Amanda Mangan hit three of the shots from downtown as she contributed nine points for the home team.

STEPHANIE DEKKERS got St. Edward's (10-6, 3-1 HC) back on track, as they would score the next seven points to cut the lead to 29-22, with 5:24 remaining in the first half.
After a free throw by TAMU-International with 3:55 made it a 10-point lead for the Dustdevils. St. Edward's responded with a 9-0 run to end the half. After going scoreless for the first 17 minutes of the half,
DAWN KIEL would score five points in the final run. The senior converted on a three-point play with four seconds to go to cap off the run that made the score, 33-32, at the break.
Both teams shot the ball well in the first half, with the Dustdevils hitting on 57 percent of their shots from the field and St. Edward's making 50 percent from the floor.
In the second half, the Hilltoppers got a three pointer by
SARAH KENDRICK and a layup by Dekkers to take its first lead since early in the first half, 37-33.
TAMU-International fought back by scoring the next nine points to retake the lead, 42-37. Rosebud Guthrie was the catalyst for the comeback, scoring six points during the stretch.
St. Edward's would keep the game within reach for the next four minutes and a jumper by Rousculp gave the Hilltoppers the lead, 51-50, with 6:49 remaining. Samantha Chacon hit a jumper to give TAMU-International a one-point lead. Kiel nailed her only three of the game to put the Hilltoppers back in front, 54-52, with 5:29 remaining. They would never relinquish the lead.
After a layup rom Chacon cut the St. Edward's lead to two points, the Hilltoppers scored the final eight points of the game to ice it.
Dekkers was 5-for-8 from the field, which included three makes from downtown.
KELSEE BARR notched seven points and seven rebounds, while Rousculp added nine points, six rebounds and three steals off of the bench.
Mangan led the Dustdevils with 16 points and eight rebounds.
St. Edward's will be back in action Thursday when they host Heartland Conference rival UT-Permian Basin. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Recreation and Convocation Center. Live Video and Stats will be available on the Hilltopper Athletic Website.
