Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's women's soccer team concluded its home regular season schedule with a 3-0 win over Lubbock Christian on Monday afternoon at Lewis-Chen Family Field.
MEGAN ANDERSON scored twice and
CAILYN TRAPANI assisted on all three goals in the win. St. Edward's improves to 11-0-2 on the season and 7-0 in the Heartland Conference.
RACHEL MURRAY, coming off a hat trick in Saturday's 9-1 win over UT-Permian Basin, put the Hilltoppers up 1-0 in the fourth minute of action. Murray received a pass through the defense from Trapani and beat the keeper one-on-one for her team-best seventh goal of the season.
The Hilltoppers kept attacking the goal and were awarded with four cornerkicks in the first half.
ALLY LINDQUIST had a header attempt sail high in the 20
th minute. Trapani had a shot saved by Lady Chap goalkeeper Lauren Story a minute later.
Anderson scored her first goal in the 33
rd minute of action to give St. Edward's a 2-0 lead. Trapani sent a cross to Anderson who headed the ball to the far post. The Hilltoppers led 2-0 entering halftime.
St. Edward's outshot the Lubbock Christian 8-1 in the second half. A series of cornerkicks early in the half yielded no attempts, however.
In the 57
th minute, Anderson pushed the lead to 3-0, with her goal from the near post. Anderson, Trapani, and
ANNA OWEN were all involved in a three-man game where eventually Anderson received a give and go from Trapani. Anderson is now tied for second on the team with six goals.
The Lady Chap keeper saved Anderson's attempt for a hat trick in the 63rd minute. The Hilltoppers had a few more chances to add a fourth goal. Murray had two attempts saved by the keeper in the 79
th and the 90
th minute respectively.
ANNA DAVIES had a header attempt in the final minute go wide left.
The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Saturday, November 2 when they take on Heartland Conference opponent Texas A&M International. Kickoff from Laredo, Texas is set for 7:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available through the Dustdevil Athletic website.
